I love the idea of digesting, which is essentially batching. From my understanding, the key factor of enabling digesting (and the design of Strata) is that writes to the byte-addressable NVM is synchronous and durable. I’m quite impressed that the authors were able to design the system and conduct (emulated) evaluation even before the hardware was on the market.
